District House in the outskirt of Milan. Ur- ban renewal in the Milanese suburb of Niguarda, promoted by G124 – senator Renzo Piano

Abstract

Urban outskirts represent transformative places, where small actions, here truly effective and amplifiable, can lead to significant changes. We were able to experience this firsthand through the program G124, sponsored and supported by senator Renzo Piano. We worked on a small project in Niguarda, one of the many peripheral areas of Milan. The goal was to build the identity of a place dedicated to the neighbourhood’s life, a former elementary school with a beautiful, neglected garden. This space, full of promises and potential, became Ciriè 9, a district house for the Niguarda community.
