Abstract

The circular ring undoubtedly represents the architectural affirmation of an objective: the meeting of collectivity and individuality. Still, in this case, it also reflects an apparent idea of urban and social development. The form seems to recall the ancient collective dwellings of southern China, the Tulou, where the spaces opened up, for defensive reasons, mainly towards the inner courtyard.
