Abstract

In Hamburg, from 2025, the city centre will expand by 40 per cent on the river island Großer Grasbrook in the Elbe riverbed. In this context, Behnisch has placed its Marco Polo Tower, located on the northern quay of HafenCity, in direct contact with the Unilever building, between the Elbe Philharmonic and the Hamburg Science Centre so that it will be one of the new landmarks of the city.
