From pigment to pixel
Colours and surfaces composition, deconstruction, and dematerialization
Abstract
Colour has always played a crucial role in defining and communicating the built environment and its artefacts. However, with the introduction and the evolution of new technologies, our understanding of and experience with space have drastically changed. Contemporary space is no longer confined to the physical dimension but encompasses an immaterial and intangible dimension. This dimensional upgrade has also affected the role of colour. What was once a physical tool, made of tangible matter, has now become an intangible element of light, altering the rules of colour, its shades, and its ability to communicate.
