Surface as an enabling limit

Skin prevails over form

Abstract

The surface of objects represents the point of contact between the user's sensory dimension and the product's practical-functional sphere. In this subtle space, more and more often, the most effective action of design takes place, now almost structurally emancipated from the formalism of the volumes with which the space of use is occupied. In design and architecture, wrapping and covering today represent the point of convergence of a twofold field of interest: the first concerns the sensitisation of the surface oriented to favour new ways of tactile (haptic) interaction, and the other involves the communicative aspect of the level of visual interaction.
