Beyond the Stage
The new dimension of Scenography. From theatre to city and landscape
Abstract
The essay interprets scenography as an extension of theatrical design and examines its evolution into a broader role, integrating with urban and natural spaces and taking on an independent narrative function. No longer just a backdrop, scenography becomes an active element that transforms spaces and engages the audience. By analyzing site-specific projects where space, time, and spectators interact to create immersive, multisensory experiences, the essay shows how contemporary scenography redefines physical space while building new connections between art, architecture, and community, fostering emotional engagement.
