Calenzano città futura
Da una gettata di fabbrica ad una città policentrica
Abstract
Calenzano is a municipality of 18,000 inhabitants of the Metropolitan City of Florence, located on the axis Florence-Prato-Pistoia. It has 76 square kilometres, 90% of which are suburban and 10% urbanised. In the 1950s, it was still an agricultural municipality made up of scattered nuclei and settlements and characterised by buildings of historical interest such as parish churches, palaces and farms. In “Esperienze pastorali” (Pastoral Experiences), the Donnini that represents the main town is described by Don Milani, chaplain of San Donato, as a “handful of houses” between the two historical hills of San Donato and Calenzano Alta.
