Abstract

The project for a theatre and conference hall in Lleida, second in Catalonia only to the capital Barcelona, dates back to 2004, but work was only completed in 2010. It has the appearance of a spaceship similar and resembling in form, but not in materials, the brutalist work of the auditorium in Delft, built in the early 1960s by Van der Broek and Bakema, whom Francine Houben knows well, having made the famous library opposite.
