Abstract

The Black House, by Utrecht-based studio Bakers Architecten, stands on a plot at the intersection of two streets in the neighbourhood home to the city museum and numerous historic buildings. The interference with the surrounding urban landscape is strong, clear, and recognisable, yet not overpowering.
